We almost come to the end of the year already. So, the holiday season is going to start again. We are happy to let all colleague know that we managed to send three volunteers from Australia to teach English in Pangkalan Bun. Two volunteers were sent in July, Catherine and Rebecca Sibly (mom and daughter) for two weeks only. Another one, David Lucien Cooper, left Bali for Pangkalan Bun through Jakarta on October 22nd to work there for three months.
So, if you are interested in traveling to Indonesia while doing good things for the community, you could join our programs.
We continue working with Indonesian teachers of English to increase students' motivation to learn the language not by telling them what to do but by putting them in a situation that will stimulate them to use English for communication purposes. If you have any good ideas to share, we will always be more than happy to listen to them.
Lara Rikkers, a teacher of Indonesian language at SIDE (School of the Isolated and Distance Education) in Perth had just spent a week with us for an intensive Indonesian language training. Through Ibu Lara, we (Bun, Tri and Nyoman) spent one and half ours for our vegetarian lunch while refreshing our memories of all our good old friends in WILTA.
Our professional development activities also continue to grow helping school teachers to update their knowledge and skills in the teaching of English and Indonesian as a second language. So, come and join our hands together to help Indonesian young generation. Together we can make a difference!
For those who are interested in updating their skills in the teaching of BIPA, we are looking forward to meeting you at Universitas Negeri Makassar on 17-21 November for our next workshop of Pre-Certificate BIPA teacher training workshop.
Sampai bertemu di kota Anging Mamiri, Makassar.
