BIPA Teacher Certificate Course: Part 1
A group of 8 BIPA teachers from different institutions are currently participating in a one week workshop on the teaching of Indonesian as a second language. They are 2 lecturers from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Singaraja-Bali, 2 lecturers from Diponegoro University, Semarang, a senior lecturer each from Muhammadyah University and Brawijaya University Malang, a BIPA teacher from Dyatmika School in Denpasar and BIPA Coordinator of LIA Bekasi.
The workshop is organised by ULearn International Education in collaboration with APBIPA Bali and it was originally planned to be conducted in Makassar. But due to a number of factors, the workshop is then moved to Denpasar.
The participant are going to complete a 40 hour course which is the first part of APBIPA Bali TIFL Certificate Course. Upon completion of this 40 hour course participants will have a solid practical basis of BIPA teaching methods that they can immediately apply in their current BIPA classes.
The main participants of the workshop is Nyoman Riasa and M. Bundhowi. Nyoman demonstrates various interactive teaching techniques of BIPA. He also give comprehensive theoretical concepts of every activity introduced during the workshop. Bun focuses his session on exploring Indonesian cultural components relevant for BIPA classes. He presents his materials through cartoons.
Jo Master, a LOTE teacher from Australia will spend one and a half hours on the current condition of Indonesian language teaching in the country. She will explore challenges and opportunities that the Indonesian language teaching is facing in Australia.
Pak Widodo, a senior and well respected BIPA teacher in Indonesia is also scheduled to provide his inputs on such aspects as lesson planning and microteaching.
The second part of the course focusing on BIPA Syllabus design and material development will be organise in June 2010.
